Jacen Flynn

Jacen Flynn is our primary Brazilian Jiu Jitsu contributor and co-founder of The Fighter's Arsenal, LLC. Mr. Flynn's Jiu Jitsu is always evolving and you can follow this evolution each step of the way, because he has decided to bring his unique brand of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to everyone with an internet connection. Now fighers and other serious practitioners can benefit from his many years of training.

Mr. Flynn has been involved with Jiu Jitsu for 11yrs and received his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Craig Kukuk, who was the first American awarded the rank of Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Royler Gracie and that made him the first member of the “Dirty Dozen”. Besides achieving a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Mr. Flynn is also an accomplished MMA fighter with a current 12-2 professional record.

Mr. Flynn's journey began in Twin Falls, ID with a small group of guys that made him the man he is today. His teacher at that time was Dean Heileman, who had just had surgery for Melanoma. Mr. Heileman would actively teach as long as he could while on Chemo treatments and then would continue to teach while sitting off to the side to ensure that Mr. Flynn's technique remained sharp.

While training with Mr. Heileman he was undefeated at 9-0 in his MMA career. Mr. Heileman was also inspired to fight while training Mr. Flynn for his second fight. Mr. Heileman was right there putting the time in and they both won their fights.
After that they were both hooked and started making countless trips to train with Black Belts like Lowell Anderson, Craig Kukuk and Pedro Sauer. During their drives back they would break down the techniques so as not to lose any part of what they had learned.

Years later Mr. Flynn was invited to join the Miletich team. A camp filled with UFC champs like Pat Miletich, Matt Hughes, Jens Pulver and Tim Sylvia. He later moved to Washington to train with Bodog Middleweight champ Trevor Prangley.

Before Mr. Heileman passed away, Mr. Flynn promised him he would attain a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He could never thank Mr. Heileman enough for teaching him not only Jiu Jitsu, but also how to be a humble man. Mr. Heileman was a teacher on how to live and Jiu Jitsu was only one of his tools.

Mr. Flynn promises every day to give all of his students the same magic that he and Mr. Heileman had.
