Jacen Flynn's Driver Seat Mount

Jacen Flynn: "Driver Seat" Mount

Jacen Flynn describes how to perform his "Driver Seat" Mount.

This technique got it's name because it puts you in the driver's seat when you mount your opponent. The technique serves as an ideal control position and is a staging  area for a multitude of attacks. This is one of Jacen's many control techniques that gives practitioners extra options once they have achieved the mount. Once you have your opponent secured in the Driver Seat they will have little defense against your submission attempts so your kill percentages will increase substantially.

  • Step 1: Start in a standard mount position.
  • Step 2: Place one arm under your opponent's head and control the wrist with your other.
  • Step 3: Controlling your opponent's wrist, use shoulder roles to force your shoulder under the chin.
  • Step 4: Gripping your opponent's wrist like a stick shift, upshift and c-grip their armpit.
  • Step 5: Holding a firm c-grip in the armpit, downshift your opponent's arm pinning it to the ground.
  • Step 6: Shift your weight to one side while keeping downward pressure on the neck.
  • Step 7: Keep your legs tight to your opponent's hips.
  • Step 8: Lock out your elbow so you opponent can not bring their arm back inside.
  • Step 9: You are now in control, so start steering your opponent toward a submission.

Special notes:

- Your opponent will most likely keep their chin tucked so us the repeated shoulder roll technique to force it in.

- When you upshift, pick the arm up slightly so you can secure a good c-grip.

- Keep the pressure on so your opponent is more concerned with their neck then the coming submission.

- Be sure to adjust your weight to the side so you can better control your opponent's free arm.
