Jacen Flynn's 50/50 Heel Hook

Jacen Flynn: 50/50 Heel Hook

Jacen Flynn describes how to perform his 50/50 Heel Hook.

In this video Jacen explains how to submit your opponent using the 50/50 Heel Hook. Jacen has added his own spin to a classic submission. Using a modified grip, he is able to prevent the heel from slipping out of the hold. This new grip technique will greatly increase the odds of getting the tap by makes escapes more difficult.

  • Step 1: Get into a sitting leg lock position.
  • Step 2: Scoot your hips in to expose your opponent's ankle.
  • Step 3: Place the back of your hand under your opponent's heel.
  • Step 4: Place your other hand over the top of the ankle with your palm up.
  • Step 5: Using a gable grip, roll your bottom wrist into the ankle to secure the lock.
  • Step 6: As you roll your wrist pinch your top elbow down to put pressure on your opponent's shin.
  • Step 7: Cover your inside foot with your outside and squeeze your knees together.
  • Step 8: With the lock secured, look up and twist your body in the opposite direction to get the tap.
  •

    Special notes:

    - Don't forget to bring your hips in to expose your opponent's ankle.

    - Use the back of the hand instead of the elbow pit to secure the ankle.

    - Roll your wrist up and squeeze your arm to your side to secure the lock.

    - Use your top arm to pinch down on the leg to prevent an escape.

    - This heel hook technique puts a lot more pressure on the ankle so go easy at first.
